Easy steps for measuring for stair railings

When you spend as long as we have in the barrier industry, you tend to learn a few things. This includes understanding that everyone has different needs to meet. Knowing this, we supply a large array of safety products. Our merchandise includes the all important handrail and many other similar items.

When people purchase a whole railing system or the separate components, they need to make several measurements. These are necessary to ensure that the rail is a proper fit. Every set of stairs has its own distinct features. Making certain you have the proper dimensions is step number one in specifying your railing system.

Because every handrail and stair application is unique, your measurements have to be accurate. When performing your measurements, don't rush and make sure you measure twice. Take note of the five steps that are below to acquire the measurements you need.

The steps

To begin with you need to measure the overall height. This is the distance from the landing or floor at the top of your stairs to the one at the bottom.

The second step involves measuring the overall length. When figuring this out, measure the horizontal edge. Do this from the nosing's edge on the first tread at the staircase's bottom to the nosing on your landing or floor. This is at the top of your staircase.

Now we move onto step three. You need to get the length of the nosing by measuring the top edge of your first tread. Do this to the top edge of the landing or floor nose.

Step four is acquiring the depth of the tread. What you must do is measure the length of a single tread.

Finally, for step five, you need the height of the tread. Measure a riser's height from the base tread to the tread of the stair above it.
